TROUBLESHOOTING DESKTOP PRINTERS
Printer is not printing
1. Check the printer is wired to the PC. If not, connect the cable.
2. Switch off the printer and switch on again.
3. Check the printer has labels. If not, change the roll (information below).
4. Check that ‘Print this order’ is ticked when selecting the sample collection option. If not, edit the request and make sure that box is ticked. Then, accept the request again. Labels will print.
5. Press the feeding button -
This will bring some labels out of the printer. Once done, go to ‘View Requests By Patient’ and select ‘Reprint Request’. Labels will print.
6. Call IT helpdesk or log in a ticket.
Printer is not calibrated – Labels don’t print correctly (2 options)
Option 1
1. Press the feeding button -
This will bring some labels out of the printer. Once done, go to ‘View Requests By Patient’ and select ‘Reprint Request’. Labels will print correctly.
Option 2
1. Press and hold the pause button and the cancellation button for 2 seconds.
2. The printer will feed and measure several labels.
3. Once finish, remove the labels. Remember to tear them up from one of the sides
4. Go to ‘View Requests By Patient’ and select ‘Reprint Request’. Labels will print correctly.
Printer’s run out of labels
1. Open the printer cover by pulling the orange bit from both sides of the printer
2. Open the orange pieces that hold the empty label roll.
3. Place the new label roll with labels facing up.
4. Press the labels down so they are under the labels guide.
5. Close the printer cover. The pause icon will be flashing yellow. Press the pause button.
6. Some labels will be feed out. Tear them out by pulling them up from one side
