CPU Central Processing Unit The primary component of a computer that executes instructions and processes data CSOC Cyber Security Operations Center A specialised unit or service within an organisation (or provided externally) that focuses on monitoring, preventing, detecting, and responding to cyber threats DPIA Data Protection Impact Assessment A process used to identify and minimise data protection risks associated with processing personal data. It is essentially a risk assessment that helps organisations demonstrate compliance with data protection laws like the GDPR DTAC Digital Technology Assessment Criteria A framework used by NHS organisations in the UK to assess the safety, security, and reliability of digital health technologies before they are implemented. IP Internet Protocol A unique address that identifies a device on the internet or a local network. IT Information Technology The use of computer systems and other technologies to manage and process information. MDE Microsoft Defender for Endpoint An enterprise endpoint security platform that helps organisations prevent, detect, investigate, and respond to advanced threats. MDM Mobile Device Management A software solution that helps organisations manage, secure, and monitor their employees' mobile devices. MFA Multi Factor Authentication An authentication method that requires you to provide two or more verification factors to gain access to an application, an account, or a VPN M365 Microsoft 365 A bundle of core Microsoft apps including Word, Excel, Power Point, Teams & Outlook NHSE NHS England The administrative organisation responsible for overseeing the NHS in England. RAM Random Access Memory A type of computer memory that allows both quick reading and writing of data.
